About Luis Mancera McCormickI graduated from the the Universidad de Guadalajara law school in 1997 and specialized in corporate law. I worked as a lawyer for 10 years in various areas like government, the tourist industry, metalurgy industries, etc. My interest in photography was born at an early age, influenced by my father, at the age of 6 years old, so photography is an old friend of mine. My work has been exhibited in cities in Mexico like Mexicali, Tijuana, Ensenada, Ciudad Obregon, Cuernavaca, D.F, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Guadalajara & Ajijic, in various galleries and cultural centers and also in some collections in the United States & Europe. I have the distinction of having a permanent exhibition in the Saint Michael College in Cardonagh, Ireland and the honor to be part of the private photographic collection of the Architect Michael Schible, whose house in Ajijic was featured in Architectural Digest in 2008. In 2006, I started a project of photographic and design services for professional artists and photographers in the Ajijic community in Mexico. I specialize in art photography and proudly provide photo services for international artists such as Cathy Chalvignac (France), Rainer (Germany), Kiki Kaye (Germany), Jill Flyer (U.S.), Susan Kent (U.S.), Christopher J. English (U.S.), Sonia Marie (France), Estela Hidalgo (Mexico), Ed Burke (U.S.), Frances Carter (U.S.), Rick Present (U.S.), among others. In 2009 I exhibited for the first time in the Cultural Center of Ajijic in a dual exhibit with my American friend & photographer Jill Flyer in an exhibit named "Imagenes de Mexico en Color y Blanco y Negro" ("Images of Mexico in Color and Black & White"). The photographs exhibited portrayed my predilection for black & white images and cyanotype, in order to show the other side of Mexico, a side filled with textures, shadows and stormy skies, printed on metalic photo paper as the media to better complement my work. I exhibited 14 pieces, including "Tormenta" ("Storm") which was also the 2nd place winner in the Professional Category in the contest "Concurso de Fotografia de la Ribera de Chapala 2008" ("Photography Contest of the Chapala Lakefront"). In April of 2009 "Tormenta" was selected to be the cover photo of the "Lake Chapala Review", a publication with presence in the lakeside area of Chapala and in some parts of the United States and Canada.
